Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Seafood & Sole, a delightful seafood haven nestled in Mahopac, NY. Located at 41 Secor Rd, this gem is redefining the local dining scene, offering a perfect blend of comfort food and culinary expertise. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff pride themselves on providing a friendly and professional experience that reflects the warmth of a family-run kitchen.

A standout aspect of Seafood & Sole is its diverse menu that pays homage to soul food traditions. Whether you're a fan of tender, juicy fried chicken or fresh catfish that’s perfectly seasoned and crispy, every dish tells a story of flavor and care. Recent diner Raegan DeSilva poignantly remarked that the meals here taste like they came straight from grandma’s kitchen. This sentiment is echoed in every plate, from the succulent chicken wings—free of any feathery reminders—to the comforting sides like collard greens and macaroni and cheese.

The highlight of the restaurant is undoubtedly the catfish. Both the catfish sandwich and the fried catfish meals have captured the hearts and taste buds of many, earning rave reviews for their flaky texture and rich flavor. Diners describe them as “out of this world good,” showcasing how thoughtful preparation and seasoning can elevate a simple dish to greatness.

Additionally, Seafood & Sole features a variety of delightful combinations, from fried shrimp with perfectly crispy fries to soul-satisfying sides like potato salad and cornbread—always a welcome touch that adds to the dining experience. Even the beverages, like mango and strawberry lemonade, complement the meals beautifully, enhancing the overall satisfaction.

Customer testimonials speak volumes about the restaurant's quality. As praised by customer Patty Davis, the meals manage to evoke fond memories with their “soulful flavor,” which is a rare find in today’s dining landscape. The banana pudding, often saved for last, provides a sweet closure to a beautifully crafted meal, prompting diners to come back for more.

Seafood & Sole is not just a place to eat; it's a community spot that embraces the essence of good food shared among friends and family. With its commitment to fresh ingredients, skillful preparation, and heartfelt hospitality, it’s clear that this establishment is destined to become a treasured dining choice for locals and visitors alike. Amazing! Seafood & Sole offers delicious soul food at a reasonable price and provides much needed variety to our dining options here in Mahopac. The food is fresh, with quality ingredients and is extremely well/thoughtfully prepared (not a single feather on my chicken wings!!) - feels like it came straight out of grandma’s kitchen. I can actually taste the love and care that went into the dishes in each bite! The staff is pleasant and professional, atmosphere is lovely and it’s truly a joy to experience. Nicely done - all around great dining experience!!

The food was fabolous. My first time coming to this establishment. Very professional and very welcoming. I ordered an array of things the fried chicken which was wonderful the collard greens which were also amazing the macaroni and cheese which was also great the potatoe salad which was also wonderful. I also ordered the catfish which was the absolute best and I also ordered the fried shrimp. I also had the pleasure of tasting the salmon bites as well as the macaroni salad. There was nothing that I tasted that was regretful. The food was seasoned wonderfully not a whole lot of salt you can tell this food was cooked with love and soul, hence the name. I’m glad I found this place on google. It was worth the 35 minute drive . Great great tasting food. Corn bread was tasty also. Tables outside where you can sit and eat if you like. Happy eating

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seafood and Sole is an absolute gem! Alexis took such great care of us and served up one of the best meals we’ve had in years. Our table ordered fried shrimp, fries, mac and cheese, potato salad, fried whiting, chicken wings, strawberry lemonade, mango lemonade, and banana pudding—and every single bite was outstanding. The potato salad and mac and cheese were so comforting, they instantly brought back memories of my husband’s late mother’s cooking. That kind of soulful flavor is rare to find these days. From the perfectly seasoned shrimp to the crispy whiting and tender wings, everything was cooked with love and it showed. The banana pudding was the perfect sweet ending. We were visiting our daughter at West Point and came in from Nashville, TN looking for a good seafood lunch—so glad we found this spot. Don’t sleep on this place; it’s a true treasure. We’ll definitely be back every time we’re in the area!

They are open Thursday through Sunday only so we drive by the week don't think they shuttered. Besides that a MUST stop by they have a great selection of great tasty foods. I had the fried catfish with chips. The most tasty fries fish I have ever had and the fries were great.

Went there last night, hubby and I were looking for fish/seafood since we can’t have meat Fridays for lent. Anyways, he found this spot on google and we decided to try it, we’re in Carmel so Mahopac is not that far out. I’m so glad we did, I tried fried catfish once before and it wasn’t the best experience so I was a little worried (not gonna lie) but this fried catfish was out of this world good, we came in at 5:30 not knowing what to order, staff was super friendly and helpful (also patient). We never tried collard greens and he gave us a sample, how can greens be so freaking tasteful, yum. Wait is a little crazy to get your food but honestly is so worth it. We got our food by 6:30 and had to have it in the car since it was a rainy day. Outdoor seating is available when weather permitting. I so want to go back and try the rest of the options. Fried catfish was so well seasoned and well executed, flaky and crispy. Baked mac & cheese was delicious, you can taste how homemade it was, I only got one cornbread so I shared it with hubby, it was delicious so I was hesitant to give it up. Potato salad was amazing, so much flavor, rice was decent, but I mean I’m Hispanic so high expectations for rice lol. We also had mango lemonade which was yummy, but we saved the best for last…the banana pudding was just so freaking good, I went back in to get 2 more cuz I knew my kids needed to try it, but the wait was so crazy and they were super busy by the time I came back in, it’s ok it gives me a reason to be back sooner then expected. Had to save at least half of the portion for the boys. Great jobs guys, keep up the good work, will definitely be back

Excellent seafood and southern food - definitely the best southern food I’ve had in the area. The staff is lovely and take a lot of pride in food quality. The salmon bites, catfish, mac and cheese, candied yams, cornbread, wings and peach dump cake are among my favorites. The flavored lemonades are also delicious. There is a small outdoor patio with seating for dining there but I always order to go.

I hate to write this because I’m so happy to have a soul food spot in Putnam county but I have to let them know. I want to start by saying the employees are absolutely the nicest people. I love the menu. 2 weeks ago I bought whitening, shrimp, collards and mac and cheese, French fries, corn bread and 2 desserts. The problem with the whitening is that it has to much salt. If the salt was less it would be perfect. The fries were all grease. I squeezed them and it was all oil. The collards were salty also the Mac and cheese was good. The corn bread and desserts were great. The food is good if it just had less salt. I hope that they make some minor changes cause it will be a great place. I will try the salmon bites and seafood boil next time. Best of luck to the owners. I hope you do very well here.

Food was very good me and my family moved over a year ago and we don’t find good food often and this was great and the lemonades omg the best I wanted to try the cornbread but he forgot to put it in my bag but called and got a refund with no problem we got this on Thursday and it’s Saturday and we are ordering again lol WE LOVED IT THANKS GUYS
